Stitch: A Job Is a Swipe Away

Overview

The Maryland Institute College of Art was hosting a UX Design 2 day competition where UX Design students were tasked with having to create a design solution for The Softrams Digital Services Company. The requirements for the design solution were that it was to bridge job seekers and employers with one another on a digital platform.

Role: UX Researcher, Interviewer, UX Strategist

Duration: 2 days

Problem Statement

Due to the pandemic, Generation Z and Millennial job seekers are desiring more than ever to work for companies where their wants and needs matter. Companies, such as Softrams, are also seeking qualified and enthusiastic job candidates that align with their company’s values. Despite the needs of both parties, traditional job recruiting methods and technology have provided unsatisfactory job matching experiences for both parties involved.

How might we better match companies with job-seeking candidates to ensure both parties’ needs are being met?

Stitch

Stitch became the proposed solution our team pitched to Softrams, which conceptualized to be an application that would make job matching as easy as “one swipe away.”

From our research we learned that are target demographic of Millennials and Gen-Z’s are between the ages of 18-45. This age group is also the most prominent age group that uses dating applications, such as Tinder and Bumble to find relationship matches. Consequently, our team wanted to create Stitch to replicate the user experience of online dating applications, that make finding one’s perfect match as simple as one swipe left or right.

The competitive edge that Stitch would provide GenZ and Millennials is that they can also refer friends and persons for jobs they find on the application that meet the job requirements. for every successful interview that comes from a referral, the user would then receive small monetary compensation for their help.
